July 4th was nice and relaxing around here, well as relaxing as it can get with fireworks being shot off. Fortunately, none of my current zoo crew has a problem with the noise so we were able to enjoy them. How did your pets handle the 4th?

News you can use-

Summer is really turning up the heat and humidity here in PA and stories are starting to hit the news about pets being left in cars. Many people are still not aware of how quickly a car can become a death trap. My Dog is Cool provides information on this danger (be sure to see the study on how hot cars get as it shows the temperature differences between inside the car and outside the car) as well as printable material to make others aware.

Health

More and more generic drugs are being used for pets as they become available due to patents expiring. This is great for those trying to do the best for their pet on a limited budget. Read more here.

That’s Incredible!

I love listening to parrots sing. This guy is fun to listen to!

Sweepstakes/Contests

Is your pet destined to be a star? 1-800-PetMeds is hosting a photo contest with a prize to star in a PetMeds commercial. You can enter your photo until July31 here.

Help pets

A pet food drive is being held to benefit the Humane Society of Southern Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Dog Days of Summer 2011 begins Monday, July 11th. Find drop-off locations and more info here.

  • Loved the singing parrot. What a ham! You’ll have to stop by my blog on July 25 because I just had lunch with Cosmo, the featured African Grey Parrot in the book, Conversations with Cosmo. It was fun!

Stopping by on the blog hop and inviting you to see my very best cat lady/cat band video ever! Happy way to start your Saturday morning!
