Mike is a little Netherland Dwarf rabbit (see those little ears!) looking for a home where he can play with cardboard tubes, be petted and enjoy some banana treats. He’s available for adoption at the Luzerne County SPCA.
Rabbit Care- Housing
While there are some lucky buns like Ms Glee the diva bunny who have a whole room or even a whole house to roam in, most owners have a cage to keep there rabbit confined when they can’t be supervised.
There area few things to keep in mind when cage shopping-
- Rethink the hutch. Rabbits are sociable creatures and want to be a part of your family. House your rabbit inside with you.
- No wire bottoms. Rabbits who are keep on wire floors often develop sores on their feet.
- Think big. Make sure the cage is at least 4 times as long as your rabbit and gives them enough room to stand up. Bigger is always better.
There are a few cages on the market that fit the criteria, but many rabbit owners find they can get a cage that makes everyone happy by making there own. Visit Binky Bunny to get ideas for making your own cage.
There’s still time to join in the Rabbit Adoptathon. Just share an adoptable bunny on your blog or Facebook page.
