A: Owners have to be careful when handling their ferret when they have the flu because the poor little fuzzbutts can easily catch it from their humans. It’s because of this, that ferrets are often used in human influenza studies.

I hate to see them be used as lab animals, but having heard of a ferret who has died from the H1N1 virus this year can’t help thinking that at least they are helping their own kind- The Ferret Villa Shelter Battles An Outbreak Of H1N1 Flu.
Although it is harsh, thanks to ferrets less humans will end up dying from h1n1
