Were you able to find the answer?  Did you even know there were Hurricanes named Dog?  I didn’t but you can bet I’ll torture people with that little bit of trivia.  Anyway, time see if your guess was right and got you an entry into the August contest.

Q: For a 3 year period, hurricanes were named using the Joint Army/Navy Phonetic Alphabet so the 4th hurricane of the season would be known as Hurricane Dog.  What were the 3 years this system for naming hurricanes was used?

A: Hurricane Dog was was used as a hurricane name in 1950, 1951 and 1952. In 1953, officials began using women’s names with men’s names being alternated beginning in 1979.
