Meet Jodi from Heart Like A Dog
Share a little bit about yourself and your pets.
They bring so much joy and laughter into our lives, I just can imagine life without them.
I love doing activities where my dogs are included. On most days you’ll find us walking the trails near our home or working the agility ring at our training center. When we aren’t busy with the dogs we love spending time with our 4 1/2 year-old grandson and our 20 month-old granddaughter.
We’ve always had cats and dogs in our life, but it really wasn’t until Sampson came along that I caught the dog fever.
*laughs* it didn’t start out as a pet blog, it started out as a whatever I felt like writing about blog, but within the first couple of months I found myself writing almost exclusively about the dogs. It evolved from there.
How long have you been blogging?
Seriously blogging? It will be two years December 1st.
How would you describe your blog to a first time visitor?
Geez Dawn, I took the 31 Days to Building a Better Blog challenge and never got that elevator pitch down! LOL Let me give it a shot.
Heart Like A Dog is a blog which showcases the bond between a sometimes flawed human and her dogs. It is one woman’s attempt to share with the world what she has learned from her dogs and to give of herself to others, the way her dogs have given to her.
If a reader could only read 1 post on your blog which post would you recommend?
I love this post, “Happy Birthday My Love” http://www.heartlikeadog.com/2012/07/30/happy-birthday-my-love/
What has been the best part and what has been the hardest part about blogging? The best part has been connecting with people. I’ve learned so much from my readers and fellow bloggers, they are all so generous in sharing their time and talents.
The hardest part has been trying to get new readers and sponsors. That has been extremely challenging for me.
What have you learned from blogging?
If you want to know something, just ask. There are so many talented folks out there that are willing to help you with anything. All you have to do is ask.
What is 1 piece of advice you would give to a new pet blogger?
Don’t give up! Keep writing, you will find your voice. Visit other blogs and above all ASK. People will help. Okay, so it’s not just one piece of advice.
Thank you for a great interview Jodi!

Wow! 2 years of daily posts! Please reveal your secrets.
I did my best to post daily this year, but it lasted about 2 months. Actually the main reason why I stopped posting daily was because I had to deal with several technical issues on my blog that took over the better half of one month earlier this year. I never got back into the groove, but maybe it’s time to start posting daily again.
Thanks for the interview!
Yay Jodi! Heart Like a Dog is one of my favorite blogs. Jodi’s is funny and honest and makes me feel glad to be in the community with so many crazy dog people struggling to be as good as our dogs.
Thank you so much Dawn for including me in your series on bloggers.
Colby, I just set myself a goal and make sure the blog is incorporated into my daily schedule. Some day I hope to blog full-time and figured I might as well start treating it as such.
I can tell you this secret, when I think of a blog topic/title I put it in my dashboard, (which helps me remember) but it is also there for times when I want to work on it.
Thank you Pamela, I feel the same way about Something Wagging.
Really enjoying your blogger interviews… I love Heart Like a Dog!
